Come celebrate with George Middle School students as they christen and launch two wooden boats built from scratch with the help of Wind & Oar Boat School.

The boats will a launched from the beach at Cathedral Park at 12:30, on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, as part of the Willamette River Revival event.

This summer, W&O worked with the George M.S. SUN program to build the boats. With great support from the SUN staff, W&O gave the students a chance to work with hand tools and gain confidence in their ability to make things.

Wind & Oar Boat School is a positive youth development organization that inspires learning through the art, science, and craftsmanship of building wooden boats.

At SUN Community Schools, the collective efforts of youth, parents, businesses, faith communities, libraries, and community organizations create a network of supports that ensure academic success, family self-sufficiency, and economic prosperity.
